Superintendent Job Description

  • Provide overall project site supervision of trade contractors
  • Monitor schedule, staffing, material deliveries and quality control
  • Develop and implement work schedules including the expediting of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery to the site.
  • Coordinate, direct, and monitor the activities of subcontractors, suppliers, direct labor and material
  • Obtain all necessary permits for temporary use and construction purposes
  • Coordinate as required the necessary inspection agencies
  • Enforce project safety & security program as defined in the company safety program and in accordance with all applicable safety codes and regulations
  • Develop and implement quality assurance and control procedures
  • Develop, control and monitor site logistics
  • Prepare and maintain all required documentation and records according to State and Federal regulations as well as company procedures
  • Notification of all subcontractors and material men of job status and upcoming responsibilities.
  • Conduct weekly foreman meetings (safety, work procedures, site storage and staging)
  • Receipt and verification of all materials, equipment and T & M tickets
  • Notification of work process to pedestrians, tenants, etc. for safety
  • Punch lists (reviewing and processing)
  • Plan and specification conformance and omission notification
  • Reporting of job incidents (theft/fire/vandalism/accidents/etc.)
  • Ensure the work performed complies with all requirements of the contract documents and specifications.


  • 6/7 years of experience or greater
  • Worked on projects ranging in size from $5 million to $50 million
  • Possess an OSHA 30-Hour Certification
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word), Primavera, Prolog, etc.
  • Strong Leader and Team Player
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the general and subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, construction means, methods and materials. Understanding of line and grade and survey methods, scheduling and cost control procedures, general contract, general conditions and subcontract documents.
